Who This Plan Fits
A different way to receive Medicare
Medicare Advantage is an alternative to Original Medicare. Private companies offer these Medicare-approved plans. You need both Part A and Part B to join. Most plans include Part D drug coverage. Medicare.gov
This may be a useful path to study if you want to review health and drug benefits together. Start with your needs, not an ad. Check each plan for the year you would join. Medicare.gov

What It Covers
Read more than the benefit list
A plan includes Part A and Part B benefits. Many plans also offer some dental, vision or hearing benefits. The details can differ. Do not assume an extra benefit pays every bill.
In many cases, you need to use the plan’s network of doctors. Ask about your doctor and the place where you get care. Check any referral or approval rules in the current plan documents.
Use the network guide to make a list. Ask the plan to confirm the exact doctor, location and service. A broad answer about a health system may leave a question open.

Costs to Expect
Budget for a year, not one month
A premium is only one line in your budget. Check what you may pay for visits, tests, hospital care and drugs. Keep medical and drug costs separate. Read which costs count toward each spending limit.
Use the cost worksheet with figures from the plan. It adds numbers you enter. It does not quote a plan or judge whether it fits you. Write down the plan year beside each figure.
Put the whole year on one page.

Enrollment Periods
Match a change to the right window
You can join or change plans during certain periods. The window that applies depends on your situation. Ask about your first chance to join, the annual window or a special period before you act.
Use Medicare’s plan enrollment rules to check timing. Then read the enrollment guide for questions to prepare. A chance to request a change is not the same as the date new coverage starts.

How We Help You Compare
Check who will help you
These pages help you prepare questions. They do not prove that this operator sells a plan. Ask who will review your needs and what they are licensed to do.
Compare the same needs each time
Keep one private list of doctors, drugs, pharmacies and expected care. Ask the same questions of every plan. Compare both a routine year and a year with more care.
If you have coverage through work, a union or a retiree plan, ask its benefits office what a change would do. Keep the answer and your notices. Do not cancel coverage based only on a general website guide.
Keep the plan name, its dates and any notices together. Note your doctors, drugs, pharmacies and budget in your private records.
Use current plan documents to confirm benefits, costs and deadlines. Confirm the start date and effect on other coverage before making a change.
